Main-Tel Expansion
Wed, 20 Feb 2008
TEES VALLEY-based business communications company Main-Tel has announced a £1m expansion plan including new premises in Newcastle upon Tyne and the promise of further jobs.
The firm recently announced it is predicting a record turnover of £2m this financial year – a 40pc increase on last year following an intensive period of growth and expansion.
Main-Tel, which is based in Thornaby on Tees, has experienced significant growth in the last three years and now boasts an enviable client base including Giorgio Armani, The Royal Navy, Middlesbrough Football Club and Toyota Motor Europe.
The firm, which was established by Tom Howson in 1983 to supply and install telephone systems, has now grown into a leading national supplier of business communication systems, with offices in Northern Ireland and the South of England.
The company, which has created six jobs in the last 12 months and is currently recruiting for account managers, engineers and administration staff to cope with new contract wins, is on the verge of closing a deal on new premises in Newcastle. The investment, which will create another six jobs, will total £1m.
The firm is one of UK’s few accredited suppliers of IT hardware giant, Cisco’s products – something Chris Petty, Head of ITat Main-Tel, believes will be the secret to success in getting a foothold in Newcastle and Scotland: “Main-Tel already works at a national and international level but we also carry out a great deal of work locally and we are keen to build on that customer base in Newcastle and across the border.
“Most of our competitors in this area offer either telephone systems or IT, we are completely integrated to offer both and are the only accredited CISCO supplier in the area which stands us in good stead.”
Main-Tel – which is predicting a further £1m growth for the next financial year, provides intricate knowledge to help firms implement the right voice, data and security solutions for their business.
